Terms
Last updated 26 August 2026
In short: your surveys and the answers you collect are yours. You are responsible for what you ask people for and for having a lawful reason to ask. Do not use Votense to deceive people or to harvest credentials. We can remove surveys that do.
These terms cover using Votense to build surveys and collect responses. Using the service means agreeing to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you are confirming you may do so.
Your account
You sign in with Google or GitHub. Keep that account secure — anyone who can sign in as you can read and export every response you have collected. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live. We do not knowingly provide accounts to children.
What you collect is your responsibility
You decide what your surveys ask for and what you do with the answers. That makes you the one responsible for having a lawful reason to collect it, for telling respondents what you are collecting and why, and for honouring their requests about it. Where data-protection law applies, you are the controller of your responses and we process them on your behalf.
Do not use Votense to:
- collect data you have no right to collect
- impersonate someone else, or imply a survey comes from an organisation it does not
- phish for passwords, payment details or other credentials — this is the one we act on fastest
- collect card numbers, government identifiers or health records; the service is not built to hold them
- distribute malware, or use a survey as a redirect to something harmful
- break the law, or anyone else's rights
If a survey does any of this we may remove it, and repeat offences end the account. We do not routinely read your surveys; we act on reports and on what is visible from the outside.
Who owns what
| Yours | Ours |
|---|---|
| The surveys you build, your questions and settings, and every response collected through them | The Votense software, brand and site — using the service does not transfer any of it to you |
We store and serve your content only to run the service for you: to show a survey to a respondent, to show you the answers, and to export them when you ask. We do not use your responses to train anything, and we do not sell them.
Respondents are not our users
Someone filling in your survey has no account with us and no relationship with us. Their questions about their data go to you, and you are the one who has to answer them. If someone asks us to remove an answer they gave to your form, we will point them at you — and if they cannot reach you, we may act on it ourselves.
Limits you should design around
These are real limits of the product rather than legal boilerplate, and are documented in full under the documentation:
- Destinations are attempted once. A webhook or Slack delivery gets five seconds and is not retried. Your responses remain in Votense either way — treat destinations as notifications and your dashboard as the record.
- Attachments are capped at 200 KB. Files are stored inside the response, so anything larger is refused at submission time with a message saying so.
- Deleting a survey deletes its responses. There is no undo and no recovery window. Export first.
Availability
We work to keep the service up, but it is provided as-is and without a guaranteed uptime. Things break, providers have outages, and we may change or withdraw features. Where we can give notice of a change that would lose you data, we will.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The CSV export exists for exactly that, and takes seconds.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect losses arising from using the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death, personal injury, or our own fraud.
Ending it
You can stop at any time: delete your forms, and with them their responses. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why unless doing so would be unlawful or would help someone continue causing harm.
If we discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice so you can export what you have collected.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the revised terms. Questions go to contact@seagit.com; how we handle data is covered in the privacy policy.
